Because really, I think how someone spends their free time speaks volumes about who they really are at heart.I snowboard. Like a fiend. It's freedom. It's bliss.
I write. Fiction, non-fiction, web content and copy for clients when they don't know what to say.
I don't own a TV. Haven't in years. I have an obscenely large monitor and the internet - anything I want to see, I can find there. Most of what I end up watching or looking up is research. I'm a geek
at heart. I believe life is about learning, so I do it as often as I can. When I wasn't living way up in the mountains, I skateboarded a great deal. Great way to get around in the summer with freshly laid sidewalks. Boulder, Colorado was my favorite place to skateboard, though I might be biased, as I learned how to do it there.
In short, I play as hard as I work.
Really About Me: History, Ambition
I grew up school years in Ontario Canada, summers in Denmark. Taught me a great deal about other cultures, other points of view. It shaped who I am now tremendously.
I spent the last 13 years in the United States exploring every state I could get myself to.
No matter where I go, however, it's not home. I missed Canada tremendously, and so in October of 2010, I finally returned home.
I was fluent in Danish, French and English until I was in the my early 20's and just stopped using them. Danish and French, that is. I'm still mostly proficient in english, though being in the United States for this long hasn't helped any.
I've been designing and coding websites since 1998. It's part of who I am. I've dabbled in college institutions for traditional design, the psychology of color and form, and computer sciences, though I found I've learned the most from independent research. What my colleagues have done is staggeringly ahead of what any college class has to offer. My education in web design and the css behind it is a constant process. My education in psychology took 3 years and, though I don't sit people on couches, it comes in tremendously handy when dealing with anyone.
